The current exhibition of mediumnic sculptures in the gardens of Michelham Priory in England is something we have been very eager to put on for a number of years. In the exceptional surroundings of this old priory, the sculptures have been skilfully placed on the lawns or flowerbeds and have taken on a new look and meaning.

Historical Notes
Michelham Priory in eastern Sussex in the south east of England was built in the 13th century by the Order of the Augustines, a community which produced its own resources in a self-sufficient system and placed its monastic life in the service of God. This type of religious life was eliminated during the reign of Henry VIII who broke up the monasteries. Part of the priory and the church were destroyed at this time. Today, a Tudor style set of buildings remains, surrounded by beautiful gardens and lawns through which a river flows with its swans and ducks. This reputedly haunted house has gradually evolved since the Augustine period into its present Tudor style and has been meticulously maintained. There is a museum concerning the history of the site and other areas that are given over to various cultural activities. |
